Empowering communities: gvas academy partners with rural village for education

At GVAS Academy, we believe that education is a fundamental right, not a privilege. However, millions of children face stark barriers to learning. According to UNICEF, 10.5 million children aged 5–14 in Nigeria are out of school, and only 61 percent of 6-to-11-year-olds regularly attend primary classes. While urban children are often kept away by poverty, those in rural communities face a double burden: severe poverty and a complete absence of local schools.
Rising to the Occasion
Refusing to let another generation be left behind, GVAS Academy leadership took direct action. 
Our President, Grace Adewale, and Academic Coordinator, Gbenga Adewale, personally visited and consulted with a rural community completely cut off from educational infrastructure.
Through collaborative, community-led dialogue, a transformative partnership was born. 
We are proud to announce a joint initiative to build a brand-new primary school from the ground up.

Conclusion from the Consultative Meeting with the Villagers
  1. The school will be named after the community, so that every member of the community will take responsibility for the school’s progress.
  2. The village will provide the land for the school and participate in the clearing of the land.
  3. The school will be built by Grace and Gbenga Adewale (GVAS representatives)
